021112: Finally 21!!

Happy Birthday, to me!

What an amazing day. I blogged earlier this morning, so I guess this can continue from that blog.

After Dave come back home, he was real hungry and not gonna lie, I was pretty hungry too. He had the idea to grab a burrito, but since it was my birthday he made me choose. I didn’t really mind if he just went to grab food and bring some back (I was more concerned for my midterm this coming up monday). But then Mom suggested he take me to Hash House, but then he mentioned Wet Willies - so I compared their menus online! HAHA, I figured I didn’t really want breakfast OR brunch, so I decided on Wet Willies.

We got there during their happy hour, so I was excited! I sampled a bunch of their daiquiris… they were so good! You couldn’t even tell there was alcohol (yikes)! After finally sampling like 5, I decided on the “Superman” (they have some secret menu) and it’s basically a Call-A-Cab mixed with Shock Treatment.

Call a Cab®
The name says it all. The grain house specialty. Made with Grain Alcohol* ( 153° or 190° ) and light rum. Try with Shock Treatment or Attitude Improvement and Sex on the Beach ( Triple Play ). Very Strong.

Shock Treatment Electrify the senses with this mix of lemonade, Blue Curaco, and Grain Alcohol* (153° or 190°). Try with Call a Cab® or Margarita for a Multi-Volt experience.

I didn’t realize how strong they would be mixed together. However the bartender did know it was my birthday, haha. By the time I was done eating, I was trippin’ (literally) but damn, that quesadilla I had was so fucking bomb. LOL, true story.

Afterwards, there was this cupcake place a few doors down, so we decided to try it out and man! Those cupcakes were amazing! I had the snickerdoodle and Dave got the vanilla caramel. Yum! They were so moist!

We had plans to go to Horton to exchange my necklace, so that’s exactly what we did. I managed to save him $10 in the process, lol. I loved his attempt at trying remember the one I wanted. At least he tried and offered to exchange since it wasn’t the right one. =)

We then went home where I napped for half and hour, then he woke me up so we could pack our things. He wanted to take me to dinner then just head straight to Riverside. He took me to Waterfall Terrace at L’Auberge Del Mar. It was definitely not our scene because I swear to God everyone there was white! But I could care less about the people, it was a romantic candle lit dinner with a waterfall terrace view, hence the name of the restaurant. Pretty fancy too. Our server gave us a complimentary sorbet for my birthday, and the dinner was delicious! Dave couldn’t get over how good his oyster was… haha.

On our way back to Riverside, I did some work on my laptop in the car. We stopped by BTH to grab some boba, then went home. I finished up my studying just before 11.

Overall, it was a great birthday =). I enjoyed every second of it!

Thanks to my superman ♥

XOXO Gnite!

011512: WIN!

We ate at Ho Wan for lunch at Barona and it was delicious!

I came to Barona with $40 in my pocket; Dave gave me another $30. I was down $11 and didn’t know if I really wanted to continue gambling, then after we cashed our vouchers I saw this fancy looking machine - it was a $1 machine. I normally don’t play machines over 2 cents, but I figured “hell, what’s another $5?” at least I wasn’t blowing another $20.  So Dave and I sat next to each other, both on $1 machines and we both put $5 in. We hit max bet at the same time, and we both won our $5 back. We hit it again, I win mine back Dave loses his. I hit mine again, BAM $120! Biggest win yet! Cool!

After we got home, I yelp’d a few places to decide if I wanted to go to the foot spa place I’m use to or try a new one. I decided to go to my good old Shanghai Foot Spa place. Dave and I waited for Mom, Dad and Janeen to get back from Cafe Tazza before we left. He drops me off and I wait for a few minutes while I talk to this old filipino lady.

My massage was spectacular! Yum. I’m still feeling relaxed!

Afterwards, Babe picked me up and we went to Ross on Palomar. He got me some goodies - a fancy laundry basket and fancy albums! Yay! We did some unnecessary shopping, but it was fun! Then we went to Target to grab Koa some things and my school supplies too and Babe just bought another watch strap.

Now we’re home, all cozy with this cold weather we’re having.

Hope your day was as great as ours!

3 things to be grateful for today:

  • The Taitingfong’s, for their amazing hospitality, generosity, unconditional support and love.
  • Siblings that can be trusted
  • Good old friends, who really make an effort to stay friends

XOXO

010912: Lazy day

For the most part, we slept in today. Went to Chase to pay my rent and Wells Fargo for my utilities. We came home and napped for a bit, then got ready to go to Barona for dinner with Mom, Dad and Janeen. Dem crab legs were bomb! Dat prime rib was the shit too. YUMMO! We played the slots for a bit and I came up $30. I’m pretty happy since I haven’t really won anything in a while. Plus, it’ll help me get through this week with groceries and other payments! Awesome!

Anyway, after we played we came back to switch with Mom and Dad to have them play a bit. Dave and I got some gelato while we hung out with Janeen. It was only a $1 for both of ours! $.25 a scoop!

As of now, we are at home watching Jet Li’s Fearless to end the night and tomorrow, I have school again… Bittersweet memories <3

I love this man more than he’ll ever know.

Good night everyone!

010412: Afghan cuisine!

Another day out with my honey! He had a good PT this morning and really wanted to go out to eat, so as soon as he called me, it was time for me to get ready! I came over and waited for him to finish his game and then we yelp’d something new to try. I wasn’t feeling very picky today, so we decided to try some Afghan cuisine! We ate at Khyber Pass out in Hillcrest. We also happened to park right out front of his cousin Jun’s work - Integrite Salon, so he came out and said hi to us.

The food was delicious btw. My honey is too sweet! He said:

I’m always nice and generous. I offer to pay for things for other people sometimes just to be nice, but when it comes to you - there’s no limit.

I’m spoiled rotten by this man - my best friend even say so. BUT, I am very thankful that he’s mine and that he has such a kind and giving heart (only one of the many reasons why I love him). I offered to end our day at the spa, but he was too tired so we ended up staying home and watching HIMYM - we also grabbed some tacos at this new place - then continued to watch more HIMYM with Johnny & Cristie.

Another great day of 2012! I hope your day was as pleasant as ours!

010312: It’s a date!

Originally, all we had planned today was to eat brunch at our favorite little shack, Leilani’s. But Dave thought it was too early to go home, so he took me to Balboa park. I’ve never really experienced Balboa park for what it is. I’ve walked around it a few times, but I’ve only entered one building and it was the one with paintings in it. Being that it was Tuesday, I guess a few museums were free. So we went to the science museum and the natural history museum. We also played with a few birdies before we headed back to his place.

Btw, Kamakanamakamaeokalani means, heavenly precious gift.

Hope everyone had a good day!

010212: A healthier lifestyle

I suggested we go hiking because I really fell in love with hiking when I hiked the mountains of Hawai’i. Since Cowle’s Mountain is all the hype out here in San Diego, I figured why not. We (Dave, Johnny, LaDaniel & I) took one of the more challenging trails, and although the hike was definitely not what I was expecting, the view up top was gorgeous. Afterwards, we ate at Lucha Libre - which didn’t quite meet my expectations either.

We went back to Dave’s and rested for a bit and Cristie (Johnny’s wife/Dave’s sister-in-law) surprised us - no one knew she was coming down to SD. We made plans to go to the movies to watch Mission Impossible, so I went home and took a nap then came back to watch the movie with them at AMC.

010112: An eventful new years

Another great, complicated but amazing and beautiful year for us both. New Year’s was filled with love from both of our families. 2011 wasn’t all that great, but here’s to hoping that 2012 is better for us!
